1. The coercion utilized by traffickers, to keep victims in a perpetual state of fear causing severe mental and physical trauma, is conveyed throughout the film and is representative of many of the methods traffickers utilize regardless of the form of human trafficking.
2.Svetlana’s Journey will make it easy for law enforcement to understand why victims are difficult to interrogate and typically falsify statements in order to help the trafficker which is due to fear of death or criminal acts against their loved ones. Most individuals can’t fathom the level of intimidation that goes into the coercion that keeps victims enslaved and this film provides a very visual heartfelt view into that world.
